Norkem Reunited was born about 5 years ago and has been living on the internet for about 4 of those 5 years. The beginnings of the site were born when during a nostalgic
moment thinking about friends I hadn't seen for years I decided to do something about it. I began with registering on well known reunion sites and from there on in things snow balled.
Combining this nostalgia and one of my hobbies, web design I began building the site. The site is a one man operation, I design, I develop and I administrate the site with moral support from friends and family.
Of course a fair amount of the content has been contributed by it's members but a vast majority of it is sourced from a personal collection of mementos. I enjoy running the site (when I have time to do so) and am
always willing to to accept constructive criticism and suggestions.
The site will ALWAYS be free to use, I don't run it because I want to make money, I run it to provide a tool for the very special people from
both schools so they can renew friendships and relationships and maybe even forge new ones. The world is a lot smaller they say, ironically due to this the physical distance between friends has increased,
another motivation for me to keep the site going, to have a central place for people to connect.
Norkem Reunited has a very special place in my life not least of all because of the vast periods of time I have put into getting it up and running but also from running this site I met my wife. Back in 2006 a past pupil of both schools
was having problems loggin into the site, and was requesting help. We started corresponding with each other, she in S.A. me in England. We quickly formed a strong bond online and in the summer of 2007 Dawn was
in the U.K on a work contract and we met up and the rest they say is history. We tied the knot in January 2009.
So as you can see Norkem Reunited is a "special" place for me. Our marriage is one of the many success stories that Norkem Reunited has instigated.
This site is dedicated to Dawn, to Jaden, to all my family, to all my friends, to all the people who I went to school with, to all my teachers and of course to you the users of the site who really do make this whole project worth-while.
Regards
John
